Dr. Anne Paquette

Dr. Anne Paquette graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 2002.

Just after graduation she began working at a local veterinary hospital where she stayed for 10 years. In May of 2012 she along with Dr. Neilan decided to open a veterinary hospital in Alcona.

It has been a very exciting time. Now that the hospital is open, she is happy that she is finally back to doing what she loves; helping pets live a happy and healthy life and promoting the human-animal bond.

During her time away from the clinic Dr. Paquette can be found spending time with her husband Rob and their two children Parker and Grace as well as her three dogs Crosby, Charlotte and Owen. The family has also recently welcomed a new Scottish Fold cat named Olive!

Dr. Paul Neilan

Dr. Paul Neilan graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 1996.

He had worked since then at a local small animal hospital until deciding along with Dr. Paquette to open their brand new clinic in Alcona. It has been a wonderful adventure and he is enjoying meeting all the new clients as well as seeing some familiar faces.

He lives locally with his wife Diane and their 2 daughters. The house is shared with an Australian Shepherd named Bindi, a new rescued lab mix named Carlton and their cat Diego.

His interests include golf, soccer, hearing a good joke and living life to the fullest.

Agnes joined the team in November of 2020. She has experience mainly in companion animal medicine but has also volunteered her time with wildlife rescue and large animal rescue organizations.

Agnes grew up in Poland, where her love for animals began. As a child, she was always around cats, dogs and horses.

After working an office job for a few years as a young adult, she decided to finally pursue her dream of working with animals. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca College in 2012 and shortly after became registered with The Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians.

Outside of work, Agnes enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their two daughters. She also loves horseback riding, gardening and hiking.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Melissa has been an RVT for almost 10 years now and has always loved animals and knew from a very young age that she wanted to work with and help animals.

She loves being able to comfort animals when they are in hospital and watch them heal when they are ill. It is a very challenging and rewarding career and everyday brings new knowledge.

Registered Veterinary Technician

The love of an animal companion is like nothing else in this world. In my darkest times, I was lucky enough to have two; Lucy and Diablo. They don’t know it, but my journey to becoming an RVT started with them! I have a soft spot for cats; feral cats, overwhelmed cats, sickly or orphaned kittens (especially neonates!), protective mama cats, big tomcats with their grizzled faces and chubby cheeks… you get the idea. Naturally, my family has grown to seven wonderfully different cats, all with their unique challenges, hilarious behaviours, and all with a piece of my heart.

I’m grateful to be a part of this community where compassion is a superpower and the will to learn and better yourself will change the lives of those who cannot speak.

My dream is that one day we will have the techniques and the science widely available in every clinic to help those populations of animals that have been historically underserved.

Registered Veterinary Technician

My career in animal health began at the early age of 15, by volunteering at an animal shelter where I was then hired as a kennel attendant. In fact, I have only ever worked with animals and I can’t imagine doing anything else! My career has spanned 28 years in various sectors: veterinary hospitals, animal shelters, teaching, and pet nutrition. I am passionate about supporting & strengthening the human-animal bond. Pets are family!

Outside of work I am the proud mom of a 12 year old spoiled pug mix named Phoebe, adopted from a shelter of course. My other life’s passion is travelling the world with my husband, 33 countries and counting…

Alcona Animal Hospital Catbassador!

Louie found us when he showed up in our parking lot soon after our  new facility opened!  You could usually find Louie sunning himself in the middle of the floor or walking across your computer as you work!

Unfortunately Louie became very ill due to a nasal tumour and combined with his pre-existing kidney disease his quality of life took a drastic turn for the worse.  Louie peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge surrounded by our team on September 3rd 2021.  We will all miss him dearly and we know our clients do too.

Alcona Animal Hospital Retired Catbassador!

Simon, our handsome clinic cat for the last 6.5 years, has retired to a staff members home. He will be missed around the hospital but we know he will enjoy lazing around in his new home and will make frequent visits!
